Shakiba Ebrahimpour is a contemporary painter and visual artist, born in 1998 in Kurdistan, and currently based in Alabama, United States. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting in 2021 from Bu-Ali Sina University. In 2024, she was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting at the University of Alabama, where she is also currently teaching drawing.
Ebrahimpour’s practice encompasses painting, printmaking, ceramics, and mixed media works. Her works is deeply rooted in her lived experience as a Kurdish woman within a social context shaped by entrenched misogyny and systemic oppression.
Through layered color structures, complex gestural forms informed by bodily movement, and the integration of traditional elements with historical references and enduring figures, she seeks to articulate the lived realities of women from her homeland. Her works addresses experiences of emotional suppression, violence, torture, deprivation of freedom, and the denial of equal rights—presented within a global context for Western audiences.
Her artistic research centers on themes of oppression, resilience, and the profound psychological effects that shape individual behavior and collective memory across generations. These concerns are examined in relation to geographic determinism, highlighting identity-based tensions and broader social limitations.
Ebrahimpour’s work has been exhibited in group and international exhibitions across Asia, Europe, and the United States. Her honors include selection for the 21st Iranian Youth Visual Arts Festival and nomination for a Graduate Fellowship from the Department of Art at the University of Alabama.
